Service requirements are as follows.
Four hours of service (in-school or out-of-school service, performance) per quarter
- One hour must be a performance hour
- the performance must be voluntary (non-required for school)
- includes any Tri-M related service done for fundraisers like Coffee Houses
- aiding a music teacher in their class, tutoring music students
- a band room clean-up
- serving as a volunteer usher, playing at a retirement home or hospital, tutoring middle school musicians
Hours are due on the last day of each quarter.
Students who are involved in Marching Band will be excused from 1st quarter hours.
Students involved in the musical will be excused from 2nd quarter hours.
Students involved in percussion will be excused from 3rd quarter hours.
Students involved in the musical will be excused from 2nd quarter hours.
Students involved in percussion will be excused from 3rd quarter hours.
Any member who fails to turn in service sheets on time will be placed on probation for the first offense. If they do not turn in a service sheet on time the following marking period, they will be removed from the honor society. Similarly, if a member has been placed on probation a total of three times during their membership, they will be removed from the honor society.
Members with 2 to 3.5 hours completed and turned in in a quarter will receive a warning, and the hours they did not complete will transfer over to the next quarter (ex: if you only completed 3 hours in Q1, you will be expected to complete 5 in Q2). Members who complete less than 2 hours in a quarter will receive a demerit. After 3 demerits, you will be dismissed from Tri-M.
